Introduction to Jamf Nation


Hey, this is CJ with Jamf Support, and today
we’ll run through a quick overview of Jamf Nation. Jamf Nation is the largest Apple IT management
community in the world, and your one-stop-shop for information and support for Jamf Pro. In this video we’ll cover common Jamf Nation
tasks, like creating and viewing Support Cases, viewing and downloading your Jamf Pro assets,
how to search for and create discussions, and more. We can find Jamf Nation at jamf.com/jamf-nation. Hit the “Log in” button in the top right
corner of the screen. If you haven’t already created a Jamf Nation
account, you can do so here — be sure to use your employee email address so we can
link your account to any Jamf Pro assets your company owns. One of the common things we’ll be doing on Jamf
Nation is creating and viewing Support Cases. After logging in to Jamf Nation, click your
username in the top-right corner of the page, and choose “Support.” Here we can see a list of any open support
cases we’ve created, as well as the option to start a new support chat instantly, or
to create a new case. When creating a new case, you’ll be asked
about your preferred method of contact, and asked to assign a priority and mood to your
request. Put down a case subject and enter in a description
of the issue you’re seeing. Finally, we can upload attachments like screenshots
or logs that might help Support solve your case more quickly. When you’re all finished, just hit “Create
Support Case.” Jamf Nation is also where we can access the
Jamf Pro applications and installers, and our associated Activation Code. In the top-right corner of the screen, click
your username and then select “My Assets.” Here we’ll see downloads for Jamf Pro, alternate
installers, as well as additional downloads. That big “Download” button at the top
of the screen with download the Jamf Pro macOS applications, as well as the Jamf Pro Server
installer for Mac. We can access previous versions of Jamf Pro
by hitting the green plus button next to “Show Previous Releases” here, and we can access
the Jamf Pro installers for other operating systems by hitting the button next to “Show
Alternative Downloads” just below it. We can find our Activation Code by clicking
the green button next to the appropriate product right below the Jamf Pro download at the top
of the page. On Jamf Nation, Jamf Pro administrators can
ask questions and share information with other Apple IT professionals. By clicking the “Discussions” tab at the
top of the page we can view, by default, the latest discussions to show up on the homepage. If we’re looking for a specific post or
topic, we can search Jamf Nation by clicking the magnifying glass icon at the top of the
page. Search results will display all of the Jamf
Nation content that matches your search, but we can filter down to discussions by clicking
“Discussions” right above our search result. We can also filter for time, relevancy, and
tags, using the dropdowns here. To create your own discussion, head over to
the “Discussions” tab and click the “New Discussion” button in the top right of the
screen. Discussions are a great place to bounce ideas
off of your fellow Jamf admins; the Jamf Nation community is a great resource for helping
to solve problems quickly. Jamf Nation is also home to Jamf’s Knowledge
Base. By clicking the “Knowledge Base” tab at
the top of the screen, we can find a whole wealth of Knowledge Base articles and videos
filled with information about Jamf Pro. If we’re looking for information on something
specific, use the search bar in the top right corner of the screen to find it. As with discussions, we can filter our search
results to help narrow down to the most useful information. Have an idea to help improve Jamf Pro? Jamf Nation is also where you can submit and
vote on Feature Requests. Clicking the “Feature Requests” tab at
the top of the page will bring you to a list of existing Feature Requests. Just click the “Vote Up” button next to
the Feature Requests most relevant to you. If you have an idea for a Feature Request
and haven’t found a similar open request using the search bar, click the “New Feature
Request” button to submit it! Finally, the Jamf Nation store is where you
can complete your yearly renewal, or purchase other Jamf products, like training classes,
Jamf swag, and more. We can find the store by navigating to the
